Database Programming

In website design there are usually a number of approaches that will get you to the same place. In choosing a design approach, we generally prefer to avoid the "State-of-the-Art" "Cutting-Edge" technologies, because flashy though they may be, the fact is that most web browsers in use cannot understand them.

One exception is in utilizing online databases. There, state-of-the-art works best, is the most flexible and—when properly used—is as browser-friendly as the most basic HTML (HyperText Markup Language—the fundamental language for all web pages.)

Why use a database? If you have information that changes often—calendars, products and prices, members—an online database allows you to update the information instantaneously.

For those with a more technical bent, we use mySQL databases with PHP to submit queries and generate pages on the fly.
